Privacy Policy
PhotoTidy is designed to review your photo library privately on your device. The app has no accounts, analytics, advertising, tracking, photo uploads, or remote AI inference.
Photos access and on-device analysis
PhotoTidy asks for read/write access to the Photos library so it can find duplicate and similar shots and let you delete only the photos you select. Apple’s PhotoKit framework provides this access. Apple Vision and local app logic perform image analysis on the iPhone or iPad. Your photos and their analysis are not sent to the developer or to a remote inference service.
Information stored locally
PhotoTidy stores analysis results, groupings, scan progress, and app preferences locally on your device. This local information helps avoid repeating completed work and remembers settings. The app does not use this information for tracking or advertising.
Optional iCloud Photos retrieval
“Use iCloud Photos for Scanning” and “Load Original Details” are off by default. If you enable either preference, PhotoTidy may ask PhotoKit to retrieve an original photo or its metadata through Apple’s system-managed iCloud Photos service. These downloads are controlled by the system. PhotoTidy does not upload photos, operate cloud storage, or keep a separate cache of downloaded originals.
Deleting photos
Deletion is available only from Compare. PhotoTidy submits only the items you selected to Photos, and iOS presents a system confirmation before any change. Deleted items follow Apple Photos behavior, including the Recently Deleted album and any iCloud Photos synchronization.
Accounts, collection, and third parties
PhotoTidy does not provide accounts and does not collect personal data, photo content, metadata, device identifiers, usage analytics, diagnostics, or location data. It contains no analytics SDKs, ad networks, or third-party tracking scripts. This website also uses no cookies, analytics, external fonts, or third-party scripts.
Your controls
- Change or revoke Photos access in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → PhotoTidy.
- With Limited Access, use PhotoTidy’s access controls or iOS Settings to change which photos are available.
- Turn optional iCloud access off in PhotoTidy Settings.
- Use Reset Local Analysis in PhotoTidy Settings to erase analysis, groupings, and scan progress stored by the app. Original photos are not changed.
- Delete the app to remove its local app data. Photos remain governed by the Photos library.
Support email
If you email support, the developer receives the address and information you choose to include and uses it only to respond and troubleshoot. Do not attach private photos unless you intentionally want to share them.
